# GDPR & Privacy

SignalArk is designed with privacy-first principles to help your team prospect safely and legally.

## Consent Records

SignalArk allows you to track the legal basis for processing contact data.

* **Legal Basis Tracking**: Record whether data is processed under `consent`, `legitimate_interest`, or `contract`.
* **Purpose Tracking**: Specify what the consent allows (e.g., "Outreach", "Analytics").
* **Expirations**: Automatically flag contacts when their consent record expires.

## Data Retention Policies

Automate your data hygiene to comply with storage limitation principles.

* Create policies to automatically `anonymize`, `archive`, or `delete` stale accounts or contacts that haven't been engaged within a specific timeframe (e.g., Delete contacts inactive for 2 years).

## Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)

When a contact exercises their "Right to Access" or "Right to be Forgotten", you can manage the request directly in SignalArk.

1. Navigate to **Settings > GDPR > Data Requests**.
2. Log a new request (e.g., `erasure` or `portability`).
3. SignalArk will aggregate all records associated with that email/contact.
4. Process the request to automatically delete the data or generate a structured JSON export for the user.
